Chief Audit Group Functions
Overview of position
Are you ready to make an impact at the heart of Rabobank’s governance and risk management? As Chief Auditor, Group Functions, you will lead a large audit team of highly skilled professionals and play a pivotal role in safeguarding Rabobank’s reputation as a rock-solid bank. In this capacity, you will take full ownership of the audit process for your assigned areas, ensuring accountability for the quality and effectiveness of audit outcomes. You will operate as part of the Audit Rabobank Management Team, reporting directly to the Chief Audit Executive, and influencing decisions at the highest level.
As Chief Auditor, Group Functions you will lead the audit teams for assigned domains within Rabobank Group Functions (CFO, CRO, HR, Sustainability). Audit Rabobank operates as the third line of defence, providing independent assurance and insights to protect the organisation and support its strategy.
You and your job
In this role, you will design and execute risk-based audit strategies across complex domains. You will provide independent assurance and actionable insights to senior management, the Managing Board, and Supervisory Board, while fostering a culture of integrity and risk awareness. Your leadership will inspire teams and strengthen Rabobank’s resilience in a rapidly changing financial landscape.
Responsibilities
Your mandate will include the following:
- Lead audits for assigned domains/risk areas in line with Rabobank Audit Standards.
- Develop and execute risk-based audit plans and manage related resources and budgets.
- Provide assurance and insights to senior stakeholders, including Managing Board and Supervisory Board.
- Manage relationships with regulators and external auditors.
- HR responsible for your department, including performance management and talent development.
- Contribute to the overall Audit Rabobank strategy as part of the Management Team.
- Ensure compliance with internal audit standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Promote a strong risk culture and ethical standards within your teams.

You and your talent
This role demands a proven record of influencing board-level decisions and shaping enterprise-wide audit strategy in a global banking environment.Applicants must demonstrate leadership experience managing large, international audit teams and delivering assurance at Managing Board and Supervisory Board level.
- Solid experience at leadership level in a global banking audit or risk function.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in auditing, risk management and regulatory compliance in a global banking environment.
- At least 10 years active leadership experience in inspiring and coaching respectively, leading and influencing larger (across international) multidisciplinary teams, consisting of high-quality professionals.
- Strong technical and strategic capabilities at senior executive level.
- Expert knowledge of banking financial risks (including credit, models, treasury, financial reporting) and risk management practices, including compliance with European banking regulations.
- Deep knowledge of best practices in auditing in a global banking environment.
- Strong drive and proven experience of implementing change improvements.
- Hands on and with experience in a management role in a similar sized complex environment.
- Strong academic credentials and professional auditor qualification.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including regulators.
- Excellent written verbal and communication skills (in English).

- Salary Scale EKI: € 180.665,28 to € 239.083,92 (annual total fixed income)
