The team
The Credit Risk Audit team provides independent assurance over ING's credit risk management framework, governance, processes, controls and decision-making. We assess whether the bank effectively identifies, measures, monitors and manages credit risk across Retail, Wholesale and Risk functions. We work on a broad range of topics, including credit underwriting, portfolio management, early warning systems, non-performing exposures, loan loss provisioning, risk monitoring, model usage and regulatory compliance. Our team combines analytical rigour with a collaborative and constructive approach. We are passionate about learning, continuous improvement and delivering meaningful impact for the bank and its stakeholders.
Roles and responsibilities
As a Credit Risk Audit Specialist, you will:
- Execute audits covering key credit risk processes, governance frameworks and control environments.
- Assess the effectiveness of credit underwriting, monitoring and portfolio management practices.
- Analyse complex risk data, portfolio trends and management information.
- Evaluate the design and effectiveness of credit risk controls and mitigation measures.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen risk management practices.
- Formulate clear, impactful and practical audit observations and recommendations.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across Business, Risk and Finance functions.
- Contribute to the continuous development of Credit Risk Audit capabilities and methodologies.

To be successful in this role, you bring:
- A Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Econometrics, Risk Management, Mathematics or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A genuine interest in banking, credit risk management and financial services.
- The ability to understand complex issues and communicate them clearly and confidently.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to challenge constructively.
